the heart of valluvanad,a small village with lot of historical valued
place situated in Shoranur Municipality, Palakkad District.

Kavalappara Swaroopam
"KAVALAPPARA KOTTARAM"
(Palace) was ruled by Mooppil Nair family around 900 years ago,Kavalappara
swaroopam was originated during the period ruling of last perumal Rama Varma
Kulasekhara Perumal AD 1090 to 1102. Kavalappara Nayar was one of the most
richest and noble family in central Kerala during the medieval period.

Earlier Kavalappara swaroopam was situated in east,Kaniampuram thodu to west,Ongaloor maadu and south Bharathapuzha to north Mundakottu kurissi.

Muppil Nair was the ruler of the country. Kavalappara was a descendant of Karakkal's mother, who belonged to the Kavalappara kingdom. The ruler there is known as Muppil Nair. The elder from the Valluvanadan dialect is derived from this.

Iruppa Desam
Kavalappara is also known as the 'IRUPPA DESAM' in the history of land means red soil land. The Nair soldiers from Kavalappara participated in the "Mamankam Mahotsavam" which took place every twelve years at the 'Tirunavaya Manapuram'.

The history of the rulers who have the power to kill. Kavalappara was the only country in Kerala which ruled as Nair.
Muppil Nair was the most powerful ruler of Valluvanad. AppuKuttan Unni Muppil Nair who ruled from 1910 to 1925 is known as the sculptor of modern Kavalappara.

It is said that Muslims were banned in the empire. This ban became stronger during the Malabar Rebellion. According to historical records, Muppil Nair was a Muslim opponent. However, the British army seized about 200 Muslim traders who had entered the Vaniyamkulam market at the same time. Upon hearing this, the elder Nair immediately reached there and demanded his release. He said the businessmen should not be turned into insurgents and Muslims should not be allowed to stay here.

In another elder, Nair got very sick. There were many doctors who did not come for the treatment. Nair asked the elders about something when he was under the treatment of Madhavan Nair, who founded Madhava Pharmacy 90 years ago. Kaitakara Mohiuddin Kutty, a frequent visitor to the pharmacy, wanted the Siddha Vaidya, a Muslim doctor, to be brought to the palace. He agreed. In just two months, the illness became worse.

The Muslims who did not accept any gifts given by Moopil Nair wanted to have some place to stay in Shornur. Moopil Nair gave his full consent. The ban on the Muslim community was quickly withdrawn. Along with being given space to live, the mosque was built nearby. According to the wishes of the Muslims, 7 acres of land was given to the mosque and the cemetery. The site where the mosque is located in Shornur and Kulappully today is given by the elder Moopil Nair who has branded it as a Muslim hostile.

It was the Kathakali meetings that had been in the palace for nearly two decades that inspired Vallathol to start Kalamandalam. Kathakali articles were the first to bring art into the realm. It is from here that the "Thol Pavakuth"was initiated.
